Orthotics
Molded inserts which are placed into shoes and are used to correct foot biomechanics - pronation and supination in particular, which if left untreated can cause foot disorders, knee injury or back injury.
Exercise Prescription
Involves a combination of stretching and strengthening exercises which are designed to improve tolerance to activity. Sometimes necessary to make a total (or near total) recovery!
Ultrasound
Uses sound waves to penetrate tissue causing vibration and heat in muscles and other soft tissues. Provides results similar to heat or massage but can usually create a deeper effect. It is used for the treatment of muscle spasms, scar tissue, tendonitis, bursitis and muscle strains. Treatment usually lasts only 5 minutes.
Microcurrent
This gentle, barely noticeable current is effective at decreasing pain and inflammation.
IFC (Interferential Current)
Involves electrodes placed on muscles for about 12-15 minutes. Will ease numb nerves, muscle spasm and tightness, reduce swelling (edema) and decrease pain. Very good for disc herniations and other disc injury.
TENS (Trans-Electro-Muscle-Stimulator)
Often used by athletes and very effective for chronic pain, TENS interrupts the flow of pain signals to the brain.
